Free Pet ID Tags:

Simply sign up online and receive a free uniquely identifiable tag to attach to your pet’s collar. If your pet gets lost and is found wearing one of our tags, the finder calls the 1300 number on the tag and quotes your pet's unique ID tag number. The finder will then be notified of your contact details so that you and your pet can be reunited.

The tags are a bright green lightweight plastic material. They have an individual computer-coded number, our name (National Pet Register) and our telephone number (1300 734 738).

Microchip Registration Services:

A microchip is a permanent form of identification with a unique identifier. If your pet is scanned for a microchip, the finder can contact the National Pet Register. We can then advise the finder of your contact details so that you and your pet can be reunited.  This identifier is linked to a record with your details on the National Pet Register. We strongly recommend multiple forms of identification and therefore provide a free pet ID tag to all pets microchipped by an authorised National Pet Register implanter.

What are microchips?

The National Pet Register accepts microchip registrations from veterinary clinics, animal welfare organisations and pet shops.

Microchip Recovery Services:

The National Pet Register provides a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year recovery hotline (ph.1300 734 738). When your pet is found missing, the finder can call this number and quote either your pet's unique ID tag number or microchip number.

The National Pet Register can not reunite you and a lost pet if your contact details are out of date. Please ensure that the details you have given us are correct. If you have moved house, gone on holiday or changed your phone number, please update your profile here.

We provide a free message board dedicated to lost and found aminals within Australia. Please visit: www.lostdogs.com.au for more information.
